Marry Me
Geoff and I were going for a walk one evening at Maungakawa Scenic Reserve. It turns out he had packed a picnic and timed it so that we could watch the sunset. He went back to the car to "get his phone" and when he came back, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was the most beautiful sunset and the perfect setting. It is something I will never forget.
The Day
Our wedding was at Trents Vineyard in Christchurch on December 4th 2020. We live in Cambridge but Christchurch is home hence why we wanted to get married down there. We wanted to be married outside in a beautiful setting so Trents Vineyard was perfect. We also wanted to get some photos with a view so we got a helicopter and went to Mount Herbert and Little Port Cooper. That was most definitely a highlight of the day!
Inspiration
There wasn't really a theme as such for our wedding but I was inspired by a photo I saw on Instagram of a flower arrangement. It was a wild looking arrangement rather than "put together" with beautiful pinks and lots of greenery. This was the look I was going for.
Expectations and Reality
I was expecting to be an emotional wreck but as soon as I saw Geoff, I felt a sense of calm and just overwhelming happiness. I was also expecting to be worried about my run sheet and making sure we were on time but I forgot all about it and just enjoyed the moment.
From One Bride To Another
My tips for brides to be would be to get a wedding planner or an on the day co-ordinator if your budget allows it. I had Lisa from The Event Boutique and she was AMAZING. She took away all the stress and I was able to just enjoy myself. She really looked after Geoff and I on the day as well. Also, don't get too caught up on the little things. People seriously won't notice and it's not a big deal.
Best Moment
If I could go back to one moment, it would be walking down the aisle towards Geoff. It was the most incredible feeling and a special moment with my Dad by my side.
