Marry Me
Matt asked me to marry him in February 2019 at the top of Godley Heads in Christchurch. We went there first thing in the morning for a walk, stopped in Sumner for a coffee, arrived at Godley Heads and bumped into Matt’s friend and his wife, they were taking photos up there and asked if we wanted one. So of course with the beautiful view in mind we said yes! Little did I know this was part of his plan, he got down on one knee and it was all caught on video and camera! It was a beautiful moment, so completely unexpected! Best way to be.
The Day
We had our first look at the beautiful Britten Stables, bridal photos at Godley heads before the ceremony, then our ceremony and reception took place at Pemberton in Prebbleton. Matt grew up in Prebbleton so this was certainly a special place to him. We weren’t phased on the date, the month or the season we just knew we wanted to get married and it didn’t matter when! So we just went with the availability of the venues and suppliers.
Inspiration
Our theme was sophisticated boho, a mix of complete opposites in a way. The bridesmaids in black with bright autumnal bouquets and the rust linen napkins, backdrop and signage. Pinterest was definitely the go to.
Expectations and Reality
We just wanted the day to be fun, full of smiles and laughter. We were surprised in fact how beautifully emotional the day was. From our personal vows to the speeches! There certainly wasn’t many dry eyes.
From One Bride To Another
Focus on your husband, you have both spent the time, money and stresses of the day so don’t worry about having to catch up with all your guests.
Best Moment
The moment when we were having photos up Godley Heads and it was just us two, the view, the sun, the calmness. We didn’t even know the camera was there snapping us! We were just so in the moment with each other.
